She asked.
“Did anyone tell you how important you are?
Did they tell you how much you mean?
A representation of growth.
Cause you
An embodiment of generations
Trials and tribulations
But Talent to save nations.
Anger and aggression lie inside
The trials struggle against your light.
Cause you.
A journeyman
A yin and yang
Dichotomous.
Either they see the wild or
They see the beauty.
Few see both.
But me, I do
For your road was long,
And mine was too.
So how can I blame you?
Instead, look to the trees.
Beauty without conformity
Enough space through overgrowth
To let light through.
That is you.
The hope for those that look to you.
So now,
You know the importance of you.”
This collection represents wild light. To flourish
The tone of Angelou comes from the poet Maya Angelou and her conversation with Tupac Shakur. In her eyes, the space that Shakur occupied told a story of wild light shining through the darkness. Casting shadows for all to see. Enlightenment amidst turbulent circumstances. It reminded her of the importance of bringing that path to the light, and flourishing in the growth with enough space to let the light shine through. Thus creating hope and pride in the journeyman.
Each impression in this collection is meant to represent transformation. Thus representing the subject's journey and growth.
Each photo adds to the meaning of the collection and should be taken at face value as well as in context of the poem and the premise.
